Get set for a long, bumpy ride to 2025

Dear judge Mbadwa,

No sooner had Mapuya come out of his cocoon of internal strife following the departure of Sangalani Nakondwa, than he had a liberty of having ago at his main political opponent,  Lazaro.

My lord, going by what Mapuya said at Njamba that Sunday, you reckon that the guy had missed the political stage, but I wouldn’t blame him.

Being in opposition in the manner he was relegated to can be a discomforting experience.

Now salvos have already been exchanged between the main political opponents following the Njamba proclamation.

For those who had problems to follow Mapuya’s rally, the People’s Demagogic Party leader took no prisoners in highlighting Tokha Are Liars failure to fulfill their campaign promises.

Lazaro feels critics such as Mapuya and company are undermining him because they have never handled crises of the magnitude Tokha Are Liars have faced.

My lord, it is not for me to judge who should be believed between the two camps, but I thought if just a week of political posturing can produce such reactions, then we should be braced for a very long and bumpy ride on the campaign trail.

My lord, I can submit that it is clear the electorate will not be subjected to transformational ideas to get Nyasaland out of its current economic and development malaise as we gear for 2025.

I don’t think the politicians have new ideas of taking this country forward and that is why I believe the forthcoming campaign will be focusing on perceived weaknesses of candidate A or candidate B and not on what they have to offer for Nyasaland.

With last week’s ranting, my lord, it is clear the die has been cast. The stage has now been set for political diatribes or accusations.

So, if you thought that the political campaign ahead will be issue-based, forget about it because the only issue we will be hearing about is how bad or ugly that politician is.

My lord, we have been given a glimpse of what lies ahead and it is not exciting at all.
