3 horse race for CRFA chair post

3 horse race for CRFA chair post
CHALLENGER—Chinjoka

The race for the post Central Region Football Association (CRFA) chairperson has stiffened with three individuals tipped to battle.

The incumbent Austin Ajawa is expected to face his vice Goodall Chinjoka and renowned football administrator Anthony Msendema who has reportedly joined the race.

However, Msendema could neither confirm nor deny his stance but claimed he had been approached by some CRFA affiliates to consider contesting.

“Some people are pushing me to contest and they have produced a flyer declaring my candidature. However, I am yet to make a decision.

“Currently I am in Football Legends Association board and also I am the chairperson of Namitete Zitha Football Club. These are already huge responsibilities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chinjoka has enhanced his campaign by visiting district football committees in the centre and has vowed to turn around football standards in the region, claiming it lags behind when compared to the north and south.

UNDECIDED—Msendama

“I can confirm my interest to contest in the elections and my main goal is to make sure we have a technical centre like the case of Blantyre and Mzuzu.

“I will also iron out some administrative challenges we have had in the past due to lack of sound leadership. I believe I am the right person to turn around football in Central Region having served as Vice Chairman for the past four years,” Chinjoka said.

On his part, Ajawa said his contribution in the league speaks volumes about his attributes.

“I do not want to beat my own drum but just go out in the districts and hear from the administrators. You will get my story there,” he said.

CRFA is expected to hold its elective general meeting on February 8.
